Anti Dengue Movement through Homeopathy (2018- 19)
In order to stop spreading of dengue in Dehradun, a new age NGO – Society for Eradication of Living Fragmentation, Holistic-Healing and Enhancement of Livelihoods for Poor (SELF HELP) formed by few Healers, educationalists and a former UN employee efforts were made to guide people and distribute Homeopathic dengue preventive medicine – Eupatorium Perfoliatum 200 in the poor hamlets of Dehradun. About 1500 families were covered adopting different ways of distributing medicines reaching directly to the people visiting various poor Basties, using the auto and Vikram runners to spread the message and distribute medicines and distributing the medicines through other NGOs.
A team comprised of Shri Vijendra Singh, Mrs. Neekusum Saraf and Dr. Navin Anand along with the SELF HELP volunteers, started the journey of Anti dengue week with Sharp Memorial School in Rajpur and coverage of Ghas mandi and other near river basties to distribute the medicine. There was a fear in the minds of the people seeing the number of cases of dengue in the area so people enthusiastically taken the medicines. Shri Ram Chandra, Sarpanch ji and Mr. Rati ram in Ghas Mandi appreciated the efforts and supported the movement.
Shri. Vijendra Singh , President of SELF HELP and a well known Pranic Healer and trainer led the Anti dengue initiative. He has trained more than 1500 people from India and various other countries also treated thousands of people through Pranic Healing. He guided the poor people of different basties about the importance of taking dengue preventive as it not only saves people from the risk of dengue but also the huge expenditures involved in treatment and hospitalisation.
The organisation, spread the message of taking preventive through different NGOs also like HARC and Aryan Group. Dr. Navin Anand, founder and General Secretary of the organization informed that while working in UN office Delhi, a similar effort was made and large number of people was benefited. Seeing the success of the earlier experiment, simplest method of giving homeopathy medicine as dengue preventive was taken up. He informed that various homeopathic doctors, Homeopathy department of Uttarakhand and a paper “Dengue epidemic: what can we offer?” by Raj Kumar Manchanda, Editor in Chief, Central Council for Research Homeopathy clearly recommends Eupatorium Perfoliatum as a preventive for dengue. He was of the opinion that Government could have started the Anti dengue movement much before its spread in Uttarakhand. This should be taken up like any other disaster prevention measures.
Mrs. Neelkusum Saraf , a well know educationalist and Vice President of organisation led the anti dengue movement in Ghas Mandi and Kanthbangla basti covered through Bal Vikas Kendra run by Aryan Group. She also made children happy through her stories and Mimicry. Mr. Faizi Aleem Khan promoter of Aryan Group also supported in the Anti dengue movement of SELF HELP. She mentioned that the message of Dengue prevention can be best communicated through children.
Dr. Anand informed that the organization also adopted a strategy of spreading the message through Vikram and auto drivers who go on different routes. In this way, the message was spread in different corners of the city. Vikram and auto drivers were covered with the help of a social worker Shri Rakesh Jadly. This event was supported by young volunteers Chaitanya Krishna and Aryan Rajvansh. SELF HELP has been promoting alternative medicinal systems like Pranic Healing, Homeopathy and Marma Chiktsa through their promoters and volunteers.
